Kamal Haasan and controversies go hand in hand. He maintains to be in news all the time either by his controversial comments, or films. The actor’s upcoming movie ‘Vishwaroopam 2‘ which is all set for release after several hurdles, is now entangled in a new controversy.
Pyramid Saimira Productions International has now moved a civil suit against Kamal Haasan for recovery of Rs 5.44 crore that was paid to Kamal’s Raaj Kamal Films International for making the period drama Marmayogi.
According to the agreement, Kamal Haasan was supposed to give the script, direct and act in the film as a hero.
The production house claims that as per a memorandum of understanding that was signed with Raaj Kamal Films International, Rs 10.90 crore was paid by Pyramid Saimira. Kamal, in September 2008, had even written a confirmation mail on the receipt of the money.
They have expressed concern, stating that Kamal Haasan has not proceeded with the work of Marmayogi. The production house also claimed that the advance and remuneration for the film has not been returned by him.
Though Kamal Haasan had released many films in the last ten years, he has still not returned the advance taken from Pyramid Saimira.
The production house has made an allegation that the Kamal Haasan has been using the amount taken for Marmayogi to make other films, and a due petition was filed to recover the amount. Kamal had released his earlier films by furnishing a bank guarantee to the court.
The Madras High court has sought an explanation from Kamal Haasan to the petitioner’s plea to stay Vishwaroopam 2.
On the other hand, Kamal Haasan, while talking to the media at the Chennai airport, said that he will deal with the case in court and also added that the release of Vishwaroopam 2 will take place as per plan.
