Like never before, the film industry has been making efforts to make the industry a safe workplace for women ever since multiple women came forward and revealed the dark secrets of casting couch and sexual harassment in the industry. Recently, the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) decided to set up an anti-harassment committee, and along with Amole Gupte and Renuka Sahane. Actress Taapsee who has been vociferous in all aspects has joined this committee.
Talking about what she intends to do as part of this committee, Taapsee said, “This industry gives us our bread and butter and it needs to be a clean workplace because, as they say, work is worship. We need to clean up the dirt. The idea is to bring together a bunch of people, not just actresses but even those working behind the scenes to talk about such issues.”
So, what’s the plan? “We are yet to decide our guidelines: Is it damage control or prevention? Both points will be discussed at our first meeting, including what we can do for the survivors and how to prevent such instances happening in the future. The idea is to bring together a bunch of people, not just actresses but even those working behind the scenes to talk about such issues,” informs Taapsee.
